APV is working with charity organizers Round Table to film this year's 24-hour Pedal Kart Grand Prix, to be held 22-23 November in Hong Kong's Victoria Park.
The event has been in operation annually since 1986 and typically fields as many as 40 human-powered vehicles, competing in a race of endurance, engineering, tactics, and speed.
Teams are drawn from across the Hong Kong corporate sector, including last year's defending Champions Cathay Pacific Airways, and 2007 Runner-up Hong Kong Aircraft Engineering Co (HAECO), as well as long-time participants Hong Kong Electric, China Light and Power (CLP), MTR Corporation, Jardine Lloyd Thompson, CITIC Ka Wah Bank, Hong Kong Aero Engine Services Ltd (HAESL), Jetta Company LTd, Mindset Ltd, and Brainchild Ltd. Other organizations fielding teams include the King George V School, Renaissance College Hong Kong, West Island School, the Hong Chi Association, the Police Bodybuilding Club, and the Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club.
The event's motto is "Pedal for those who can't," and the event raises around HK$1.4 million (US$180 thousand) annually to support the Round Table's various charitable initiatives in Hong Kong and across Asia.
APV is supporting the event by donating its filming and production services to create a short video documenting the event. Also donating equipment and technical consultation is APV's partner, Rent A Pro, Hong Kong's leading photographic equipment rental house.
The video will feature time-lapse video of the 24-hour event, as well as interviews with leading participants, and POV shots of the race track as viewed by the pedallers. The video will be distributed to race participants and sponsors on DVD, and will also be posted to the Internet for viewing as a streaming media file. The film is expected to be completed by early 2009.
