This is a re-post from C. Slaughter. The math and their calculations have changed over time ("2 hours to download" and "5 dollars a minute"), but otherwise they got it quite right. I guess most other newspapers did not watch television in 1981???

Click the picture below to visit Sporcle and take a quiz on how many of these corporate logos you can guess... interesting to see them stripped of their usual context, and see which have are most identifiable. Begs the question... how effective are corporate identities, anyway?

Three versions of his incredible prayer, "May You Never." I'm deeply saddened by his passing, but I'm also fascinated by how his performance of this simple and beautiful song changes over three decades... as the performer himself changes. It's also interesting to see how the video style changes... from the stark "muse-o" Seventies approach, to high-production-value "taking-it-seriously" 90s mode, to the "am-cam" of the present day. 1973

And may you never lay your head down You're just like a great strong brother of mine Oh please won't you, please won't you And may you never lay your head down Well you're just like a good close sister to me Oh please won't you, please won't you May you never lay your head down You're just like a great strong brother of mine Oh please won't you, please won't you May you never lose your temper May you never lose your temper

Not Genesis the band, as in "the lamb lies down on Broadway"; but Genesis the book, as in "darkness was upon the deep" and all that. Apparently, legendary counter-culture cartoonist Robert Crumb has been working for at least four years (and probably longer) on a "literal interpretation of the Book of Genesis" that will be published this autumn. The story first came out in the Guardian a few years ago, but I had forgotten about it. Now that publication is getting closer, though, images are starting to be released...! It's endlessly amusing to consider that this will come from the guy who unleashed The Snoid onto a waiting world, and gave us Tommy the Toilet, and Mr. Natural, and Fritz the Cat, and so many more.... Did I mention that I'm a huge fan?

Despite plenty of evidence to the contrary, under the crusty exterior most hacks adopt as protective coloration, deep inside, there is often more than just a crusty interior. Who knew there was stuff that journalists actually like....?
